Heath is an upscale suburban community located on the eastern shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall County, Texas, roughly 25 miles east of downtown Dallas. Being one of the region’s most prestigious communities, Heath has been renowned for its high-end residential character and its beautiful natural landscapes. It is considered a prime bedroom suburb within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
Noteworthy Characteristics
The town is filled with tremendous semi-rural landscapes, large-sized residential lots, and moderately steepled terrains. To ensure its exclusive high-end nature, commercial development within city limits is limited. Most notably, the town also lies in the arch of the east side of sparkling Lake Ray Hubbard. Many homes either enjoy lakefront access and views, while Terry Park given access to a public lakeshore and recreation.

Heath is one of the wealthiest communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, and the housing market primarily comprises single-family housing units with a high percentage of people owning their homes. Over time, the housing market has thrived with steady growth and innovative residential developments like the Heath Golf & Yacht Club.

Rockwall Independent School District serves the residents of Heath, with Rockwall-Heath High School known for its strong academic rigor and diverse range of athletic programs. Brief History
Originally, the area was known as Black Hills because of its dark fertile soil. The town began as a small agrarian community devoted to farming the soil. The town was later renamed after John O. Heath, one of the first settlers in the region. The town began to transform in the 1960s after the construction of Lake Ray Hubbard by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The farming and agricultural community transitioned into becoming a lakeside residential community dedicated to higher-end residential living.
